Decision Intelligence is a small Nigeria-rooted product company building governance-grade data infrastructure for African institutions. Koine is our platform; VitalReg is our first vertical. Every engagement is a long one — we build for quarters, not sprints.
Every project started the same way: a ministry or NGO had a Postgres full of meaningful data, and a Minister or a donor needed decisions out of it. We'd build a BI layer, then an AI assistant, then realise the AI was hallucinating. We'd build governance, then a separate audit trail, then a permissions layer. Nine months in, we'd have a bespoke thing that wouldn't port anywhere.
We kept rebuilding the same machinery. So we extracted it.
Koine is the machinery we wish we'd had on project one. Governance and audit built in from day zero. A prompt stack we can version. A connector interface that works for Postgres today and Salesforce tomorrow. A Studio an operator can actually run. A reference chat for the small tenants, and an open API for the big ones that want to build their own UI.
Koine is what lets one vertical inform the next without rebuilding the scaffolding.
00-vision.md §6.RBAC, PII stripping, audit, context-fact injection are always on. You configure scope; you don't turn governance off.
It is code. No tenant, admin, or end-user rewrites it.
If the AI cannot cite, it cannot answer. Refusal is a first-class response.
The user sees the SQL that ran. The admin sees it in audit. Opacity is not a business model.
Gemini, Claude, GPT, Mistral. Swapping vendors is a config change, not a rewrite.
"Koine only works on X" is a design failure.
EN / FR / PT from day one of every surface. Arabic RTL designed for.
Versions, diffs, reviews, evaluations. Nothing ships without a golden-set score.
Parchment warm, clay + indigo. Institutional not urgent-tech. This is positioning, not decoration.
For institutions that move in quarters. Considered UI, considered copy, considered motion.
Ever. Writes go through api or s2s, never chat. Enforced at the Gateway, not in prompts.
A pipe, not a warehouse. If the data never came to us, it cannot leak from us.
Small company by design. The person you email is the person who'll be on the pilot call with you, and (if it's a good fit) the person writing the tool definitions against your database.
